Wellbeing at work Week

Inaugural Wellbeing at Work week recognises the impact of mental health on conveyancing

A week designed to raise awareness of mental health and wellbeing in the property profession has formally concluded with an extensive range of resources shared throughout the week now available online and on-demand for review.

Wellbeing at Work week was created by the Conveyancing Foundation, the not-for-profit charity focused on providing better outcomes for conveyancers and the wider property profession. The week built on World Mental Health Day on 10th October and coincided with the release of the 2025 Life in the Law report from LawCare.

The week opened with an exclusive look at the newly released report in a session hosted by Elizabeth Rimmer (LawCare) alongside Marc Lansdell (Evolve Law) and Charlotte Moore (Thomas Flavell & Sons). In an effort to address not just the challenges faced by the community in terms of mental health and wellbeing, the panel drew on the output of the report to discuss some solutions including the importance of setting boundaries, supporting wellbeing, and creating open, communicative workplaces. With practical insights on leadership, workload management, and team support, the session offered valuable strategies to help professionals thrive while prioritising mental health.

Speaking on the latest Today’s Conveyancer Podcast Trish McLellan and Niamh Warnock of LawCare said the report had identified half of lawyers anticipated leaving their role in the next 5 years; and a third said they anticipated leaving the legal sector completely due to high levels of burnout and anxiety undermining mental health and wellbeing.

In a session on men’s mental health Henry Crosby, Managing Director of Martello, and Francis Lloyd-Cummings Senior Consultant Conveyancer at Jury O’Shea LLP, shared personal reflections on their experiences with stress, burnout, and recovery. Breaking the Silence: Men’s Mental Health Stigma explored how to recognise when stress becomes overwhelming, and how open dialogue and vulnerability can pave the way to healing and strength.

Another session, now available to review on demand, discussed the impact of the menopause on mental wellbeing, breaking down myths, offering tools for self-care and workplace support, and encouraging a ‘long-overdue conversation’ about how to better understand and assist colleagues navigating this stage of life.

Organisers the Conveyancing Foundation have described the week as ‘exceptional’ with engagement from around the sector as firms have embraced the messages of the week with team-led initiatives and daily wellbeing reflections to thoughtful posts on managing stress, maintaining balance, and supporting one another.

A spokesperson said “it’s clear that firms and individuals alike are embracing the message that mental health matters and that small, consistent steps can create lasting change” offering a ‘heartfelt thank you’ to all the speakers, panellists, charity partners, and attendees for making this week so impactful. “Your honesty, energy, and commitment have helped bring mental health and wellbeing to the forefront of the conveyancing and legal sectors.”

The Foundation sys it will continue to build on the momentum generated y Wellbeing at Work Week with a Workplace Excellence Survey, to be launched in 2026, which will help firms assess and strengthen their wellbeing culture. And in March 2026 National Conveyancing Week will return to raise the profile of conveyancers and their work across the profession.

All the sessions from Wellbeing at Work Week are now online alongside resources to help continue the conversation and support the wellbeing of conveyancers.
