How diverse is your workforce? You need to know. And so does the SRA.

Sitting at our desks on what has been the hottest week for seven years it is difficult to think that in a blink of an eye it will be winter. But as sure as night follows day, so winter will follow summer and autumn.

Why is this relevant to compliance I hear you say?

Before you know where you are it will be 31st January 2014 and this is the deadline for you to report to the SRA on the diversity of your workforce. It is also something you can start preparing for now.

The Equality Act 2010 provides the framework to protect individual rights and advance equal opportunities.

Principle 9 of the SRA Handbook sets out that you must run your business in a way that encourages equal opportunity and respects diversity.

So between now and 31.1.2014 you must;

– Collect data on the diversity of your workforce. The SRA is not offering an online survey as it did in 2012 so you must make your own arrangements to collect the data

– Report your data online to the SRA in a format approved by the SRA and

– Publish a summary of the data on your website or at your office
