An app that guides sellers, buyers and estate agents through the steps of a property survey, allowing them to assess a property’s condition before committing to an offer, has added post-inspection support from a professional surveyor to its functions.
The new service in the premium ‘Genie’ package of Survey Shack will connect users with a professional surveyor for post-inspection clarification. The user can ask up to three specific questions, with the surveyor responding with practical guidance within 48 hours, based on the user’s queries and the relevant sections of the report.
The information provided by the app supports homebuyers to make informed decisions, while helping sellers and estate agents meet proposed requirements for upfront information, its developer says.
‘Requiring meaningful upfront information, including proportionate property condition details, helps buyers make informed offers and reduces late fall-throughs’, said Brett Ray, the founding partner and CEO of Survey Shack and a qualified surveyor.
“Survey Shack was created to help today’s buyers and sellers, and to set the platform for how future generations will interact with condition inspections. Our digital tools that structure a property’s facts and images, together with Genie support offering a sensible route to professional follow up where needed, set a sale up for success from the start.”
Launched in October 2024, Survey Shack combines surveying expertise with smart technology, offering an app-guided property inspection with step-by-step educational prompts and visual cues. It helps the user confidently assess and understand a property, its condition and the local area at a far earlier stage in the process than a traditional survey takes place. All guidance, questions and responses have been developed by qualified surveyors.
