A major affordable housing provider has been recognised for the work it has done to become a better employer.
Home Group has been recognised by the Chartered Institute of Professional Development for the improvements it has made in how it rewards employees.
The not-for-profit housing provider won the Rewards and Benefits Award at the CIPD North East awards.
The recognition came after judges were impressed with the work Home Group had done to improve pay conditions and motivate staff through a new rewards and benefits scheme.
One of the initiatives which contributed towards Home Group winning the awards was a change in the way it awarded annual pay increases. Instead of a system based on pay increases based on length of service the company introduced performance related pay.
The company also teamed up with an external provider to establish Reward Scene – an on-line one stop shop where employees can access discounted services such as holidays, childcare, fitness packages and motoring services.
Susan Coulson, Home Group Director of Human Resources and Development, said: “We’re delighted to have been recognised for the work we’ve done in making Home Group a more attractive place to work.
“In a competitive recruitment market it’s important to offer people a package which competes against other major employers.
“Our colleagues told us during research that they would prefer a reward system which recognised individual effort and achievements.
“By attracting and retaining talented people who are passionate about the work we do we’ll ensure that our customers and clients continue to receive excellent service.”
