Fundraising efforts raise £15,000 for Essex charity

An Essex law firm has beaten its own target of £10,000 to raise £15,000 for a charity dedicated to supporting disabled individuals in achieving greater independence and equality.

Throughout 2024, the team at PCS Legal participated in a variety of fundraising challenges, including climbing Snowdon, swimming the Serpentine, running marathons, cycling events, and hosting golf days, all in support of helping the Papworth Trust expand its Basildon Centre facilities. To mark the achievement a special cheque presentation took place on Wednesday 19th February, at Papworth Trust’s Basildon Centre. The cheque presentation event was attended by representatives from PCS Legal and Papworth Trust, along with some of the individuals who will directly benefit from the funds raised.

The Papworth Trust has been a focus of fundraising efforts for PCS Legal for a decade with plans for 2025 well underway already according to PCS Legal Founding Partner Stuart Forsdike.

“I’ve been blown away by the dedication of my team this year in taking part in the events we have organised as well as the generosity of our clients and supporters. Surpassing our original goal and raising £15,000 is testament to what can be achieved when a community comes together for a great cause. We had a fantastic afternoon celebrating this milestone with Papworth Trust and seeing first-hand the impact these funds will have. We are already planning lots of fundraising throughout 2025 including The London Marathon, Vitality London 10k, quiz nights, and out third annual golf day.”

Maggie Blackburn, Service Manager for Papworth Trust Basildon Centre which hosted the presentation in the new Games Room the funds have helped to create, added

“We are beyond grateful for the incredible efforts of PCS Legal. Their support over the years has been invaluable, and this latest fundraising achievement will directly benefit the individuals we support at our Basildon Centre.”
