The purpose of this one-hour session is to consider issues relating to lost assets, how these can affect a probate matter and the steps that can be taken by a solicitor acting in the administration of an estate to identify lost or forgotten assets.
Those acting in the administration of estates will probably already have experience of situations where it has proved difficult to identify the financial assets of a deceased person. Delegates may have used services such as a search of the Unclaimed Assets Register or My Lost Account to check for such assets.
During the session, the following issues are considered:
• Why lost or forgotten assets can be an issue
• The duties of personal representatives and the IHT penalty regime
• Identifying lost assets
• How Landmark FAS can assist with compliance
