Conveyancing network appoints new Associate Director

A growing advice network for conveyancers has recently announced the appointment of a new Associate Director.

Moving on from his role as Legal Ombudsman, Darren Cox is set to take on the role at Bold Legal Group, of which 560 conveyancing firms are currently a member of.

Darren is a specialist in residential conveyancing, having worked in the legal profession since 2000 and qualifying as a solicitor seven years later. Having spent time working in a high street practice, Darren moved to the Legal Ombudsman in 2010 where, in addition to his role as an Ombudsman, Darren headed the Legal Ombudsman’s Property and Conveyancing Team.

Largely down to his appearances at a number of industry events, Darren is also well known within the conveyancing profession, having spoken at conferences including the Law Society National Property Conference and the BLG Society of Licensed Conveyancers Conferences. He has also appeared in industry journals, such as Modern Law Magazine, and has been a guest on BBC local and national radio to discuss specific conveyancing matters.

Expressing his enthusiasm for the new role, Darren stated: “I am really excited to be joining the BLG.  Working in the conveyancing sector I have been aware of the BLG, and Rob Hailstone, for some time now and I have been impressed by BLG’s offering to conveyancers.  BLG membership adds value to any law firm that offers a conveyancing service – 650 member firms can’t be wrong.  As well as working with members on current issues, such as the publication of price information following the Competition and Market Authority’s report and the DCLG consultation ‘Tackling unfair practices in the leasehold market’ I am also looking forward to enhancing BLG’s offering to members, for example by introducing training webinars and a bespoke complaints advice handling service. Conveyancers and conveyancing firms are busy but the BLG member firms can be reassured that Rob and I will be protecting their interests at all times.”

Also commenting on Darren’s appointment was Rob Hailstone. The founder and CEO of BLG stated: “Securing Darren is a real coup for the BLG. The help, advice and guidance he can give to our member firms is invaluable. Property Lawyers face some very difficult times over the coming years and, in my opinion, only the best informed and protected will survive and prosper. I have been called the “eyes and ears” of our members. We now have a second set of experienced “eyes and ears”, and that can only be a good thing.”

“We aim to be at the forefront of all changes and will do our utmost to make sure our member firms are the safest, most aware and professional and ultimately firms that the public will receive a first-class service from.”
