Firms go extra mile with charity and wellbeing initiatives

Conveyancers have been focusing their efforts on fundraising and wellbeing initiatives in recent weeks, raising both money and awareness for good causes.

Simplify’s conveyancing and property services operations teams have raised more than £7,000 for the Simplify Charitable Trust by climbing England’s highest peak, Scafell Pike (pictured).

The 40-strong team said they enjoyed a strong sense of collective achievement at Scafell Pike’s 978 metre (3,209 feet) peak, despite almost no visibility at the Pike’s summit.

David Grossman, Simplify CEO, said: “This event was a true reminder of what we can achieve when we’re united by a shared purpose, surrounded by people we trust and care about. That sense of community, positivity and collective effort is what made the event so special, not to mention the £7,000 we raised for charity.”

Worcestershire law firm mfg Solicitors donated £1,000 to the Make a Wish Foundation via Sarah Cutler (below left), a director at Alvechurch-based Eden Properties, for completing the London Marathon.

The money will contribute towards the total £3,186 raised by Sarah to help the charity continue to grant life-changing wishes for children who have critical illnesses.

Becky Husband (pictured right), a senior associate at mfg Solicitors said: “We have worked closely with Sarah on a variety of property transactions for well over a decade, so were only too happy to support her and the fantastic charity.

“Running a marathon can be a once in a lifetime event for millions of people, and Sarah has made it that bit more special by raising funds for a charity that does incredible work to support children and their families. We’re delighted that through the mfg Charitable Foundation we could play a small part.”

Movera has announced the launch of a new mental health ambassador programme as part of its ongoing commitment to wellbeing in the workplace.

The programme will see 25 volunteers act as mental health ambassadors in the company’s hybrid and remote teams, all of whom have completed accredited Mental Health First Aider training through MHFA England.

Ambassadors will act as visible, approachable points of contact for colleagues who need support, guidance or simply someone to talk to. They will be clearly identifiable through dedicated signage, a Teams availability status and branded materials, so colleagues know who they can turn to and when they are open to being approached.

The programme forms part of a wider, long-term wellbeing strategy and will continue to evolve throughout the year, with ambassadors leading and supporting future wellbeing initiatives across the Movera brands.

Mark Tosetti, director of partnerships and mental health executive sponsor at Movera, said: “Mental health affects all of us, whether at home, in the workplace or in our day-to-day lives, which is why creating a culture of openness, support and understanding is so important.

“As an exec sponsor of the ambassadors programme, I’m incredibly proud of the colleagues from across our brands who have volunteered and committed to making a genuine difference to the wellbeing of their fellow colleagues.”

The Partnership is moving forward with ambitious growth plans by unveiling a major rebrand, which has been designed to reflect its focus on “excellent people, smart technology and keeping transactions moving”.

Managing director Peter Ambrose – author of Today’s Conveyancer’s regular cyber conveyancer column – said: “We’ve got fantastic people and fantastic technology, but when I looked at the business and the way we represented ourselves, it no longer reflected who we are today.

“This rebrand is more than a new look. It’s brought a real sense of pride and energy across the business and reinforced what a brilliant company this is. We’re building something modern, ambitious and completely focused on delivering a better conveyancing experience.”

The rebrand includes a switch to a new domain name: thepartnership.legal
