February sees fall in sales received for registration

February saw a decline in the number of sales received for registration. According to HM Land Registry data, the total saw a mon-on-month fall of 31,546.

Price Paid Data from HM Land Registry sets out the details of land and property sales across England and Wales which HMLR received for registration. During February 2018, 85,249 sales were received for registration.

Of these, 61,237 were freehold and 16,133 were newly built.

Looking to the type of property:

  • 19,174 were detached
  • 20,725 were semi-detached
  • 21,462 were terraced
  • 17,842 were a flat/maisonette
  • 6,046 were classed as other

During February 2018, the most expensive residential sale was for a terraced property in the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea which went for £10,750,000. The cheapest took place in Country Durham, where a terraced property sold for £19,000.

Where commercial sales were concerned, the most expensive which took place last month was for £75,972,945 in the City of London. The cheapest commercial sale occurred in Macclesfield where a property sold for £250.
