E-petition for the immediate suspension of stamp duty

E-petition for the immediate suspension of stamp duty

Paul Hajek a solicitor with Clutton Cox and one of the most active conveyancers using social media to promote his business has used his skills to launch an e-petition to kick start housing activity.
We all know that the volume of transactions in the market are significantly below the long term trend with the number of transactions in recent months falling so low that they imply that the average home owner only moves house once every 25 years compared with 7 years, which used to be the norm at the height of the market but how many of us are trying to do things to improve matters?
Paul who is widely known for his use of the internet to promote his business through twitter, facebook, linkedin and organic search optimisation has used his internet skills to set up a Government e-petition on the government website direct.gov.uk to try and influence tax policy.
Paul’s petition can be found at http://epetitions.direct.gov.uk/petitions/4269 and it calls for the immediate suspension of stamp duty for 2 years.
The petition seeks support because “The housing market is an important driver for the UK economy, which creates jobs and wealth.  As a temporary stimulus to offset the fear of double dip recession the UK needs further incentives and a 2 year suspension of Stamp Duty when moving home could be the spark to light the recovery and stave off further impending gloom”
We welcome Paul’s idea and would encourage readers to support the petition.
