Dye & Durham’s cloud-based software speeds up workflow for Bennett Oakley solicitors

Launched in response to the UK’s first lockdown, Dye & Durham’s Document Portal, part of the Brighter Law Solution, is proving invaluable to conveyancing firms, enabling the safe and secure exchange of critical information and speeding up transaction times.

Bennett Oakley is a leading legal practice with offices in Burgess Hill, Hassocks, Brighton and London. The firm’s residential department of 19 people, including support staff, benefit from Dye & Durham’s intuitive cloud-based software to order conveyancing searches, automate online quotations and streamline the process of sharing and signing key client documents.

“We implemented Dye & Durham’s Brighter Law solution five years ago,” says Samuel Cash, Director and Practice Manager at Bennett Oakley. He continued:

“Prior to that, our search ordering processes were pretty standard, but since we’ve switched to Dye & Durham, we’ve really seen the benefits of the full suite of tools that the company offers. Homebuyers can now fill in a few details on our website to get a quote in seconds and once instructed, the onboarding process is streamlined too.”

Bennett Oakley’s transition to Dye & Durham’s platform provides a saving of around 40 hours per month. Described by staff as a ‘breath of fresh air’, the quote management software allows them to focus on the needs of the client and work more efficiently. Cash said:

“We are now able to provide fast, accurate quotes online and also in real-time when we receive a telephone enquiry. Not only is it a game-changer in terms of time saving, but it also allows us to provide an excellent first impression to the client.

In addition, the team at Dye & Durham has trained several estate agents in our area so they can recommend and price up our services from their side. It makes life very easy for everyone involved.”

Bennett Oakley further enhances customers’ experiences by utilising Document Portal, a key feature of Dye & Durham’s real estate conveyancing platform. As one of the earliest adopters of this tool, Bennett Oakley was quick to overcome early challenges brought about by the pandemic and provide clients with simple solutions to enable them to proceed with the homebuying process.

Document Portal offers digital onboarding, and allows initial documents such as property information forms, client care packs, privacy letters and terms to be shared and signed electronically, eliminating the need for post, and therefore allowing the conveyance to start immediately. With over 70% of clients now choosing to adopt this simplified process, Bennett Oakley can avoid any delays upfront and better manage expectations.

Document Portal has also proven to be successful in helping Bennett Oakley to gain new referral business as Cash explains:

“Recently, we took on a new conveyancing client who later transpired to be a branch manager at a local Estate Agency. She was so impressed with the technology and the time saving abilities that Dye & Durham’s cloud-based software affords, she now recommends us to her own clients.

Another key benefit of Dye & Durham’s platform is that it integrates with our case management system. This means all relevant information is pulled through, so everything is in one place which adds further efficiencies to our workflows. The management information that is reported through the system is also useful to us as a business and helps us to reflect on previous months’ activities and forecast for the upcoming month.

The support that Dye & Durham continues to provide to us is second to none. When COVID hit and everyone immediately needed to work remotely, many of our competitors struggled to find a solution quickly. We simply logged on and it was business as usual! It really demonstrated how technology has become an enabler for our firm and that we are using the most modern solutions for the benefit of our clients.”
