DCLG to present at SLC/BLG Conference

With the Government’s Call for Evidence on Improving the home buying and selling process having been launched last Sunday, the SLC and BLG have adjusted the agenda for their joint Conference on Wednesday 15th November to include a presentation by a senior official from DCLG. The Call for Evidence which is open for responses until 17th December represents the first opportunity for some ten years for conveyancers to make their collective views known on how to improve the process for selling and buying a home for consumers as well as the profession.

The Conference will also focus on implementation of the Competition and Markets Authority recommendations on transparency in the provision of legal services and present a solution that has been developed for the SLC and BLG. With items on the Brabners ruling on VAT on electronic searches, the Land Registry’s latest digital strategy and the NHBC’s implementation of the Insurance Distribution Directive, there is a lot of very topical content on this year’s agenda.

There is the added attraction of 6 CPD points for delegates (which can also help demonstrate compliance with the Law Society’s Continuing Competence Scheme), and the Conference is free to attend for SLC and BLG Members (and only £100 for non-members).
