The Law Society accreditation scheme, the Conveyancing Quality Scheme (CQS) is currently advertising for a lay panel member.
The CQS assessment panel plays a key role in assisting the accreditation with assessing the suitability of applicant firms to the scheme.
The advert states that they: “Wish to appoint a lay panel member to complement our current assessment panel and provide a consumer perspective to the development of the scheme.
“Members should have a working knowledge and experience of standards within the legal profession, however will not be a solicitor.”
The key tasks are listed as including;
– Assessing applications for initial and re-accreditation membership to CQS
– Advising on consumer issues to determine whether an applicant meets the requisite standards
– Determining the outcome of applications, providing clear reasons for the decision reached
– Reconsidering applications that were deferred or required further information with the application
The panel members are expected to be available for no more than 10 days per year, but this is subject to change.
