Conveyancing success celebrated at British Conveyancing Awards 2022

The British Conveyancing Awards, sponsored by Dye & Durham, brought the conveyancing industry together en masse for the first time in 2022 in a celebration of excellence up and down the country. Hosted in the very heart of Westminster at the fabulous Church House, the awards showcased the cream of the conveyancing crop through a hybrid ceremony attended by over 800 people.

Having been run wholly online in 2021 because of the COVID-19 pandemic, the 2022 ceremony was a hybrid event with the sold-out in person ceremony hosting 300 people, and over 500 tuning in to watch the live stream.

The 2022 ceremony was all about looking ahead at what 2022 and beyond will bring for the conveyancing industry.  Categories such as “Technology Enabler of the Year,” sponsored by Armalytix and “Conveyancing Collaborators of the Year,” sponsored by PEXA sought to showcase how technology is influencing the way we work while “Outstanding Employee Experience,” sponsored by inCase, sought to showcase how organisations have responded to the “new normal”.

Tapping into the spirit of collaboration and togetherness fostered over the past two years through the pandemic this year saw two new industry nominated awards introduced. Conveyancing Firm of the Year – National, sponsored by Groundsure and the Today’s Conveyancer Industry Champion, sponsored by Move Reports.

Both categories received nominations from around the industry before a final shortlist went to a public vote with the winners announced live on the night. Thomas Legal and Richard Mathias respectively were recognised by their peers with over 2500 votes cast between the two categories.

This year the awards partnered with The Conveyancing Foundation to promote the “Be Kind We Care” initiative, championing the mental health and well-being of conveyancers.

The charity raffle raised £4718.75 for its partner charities LawCare, Agents Together and the Mindstep Foundation.

Commenting on the success from around the industry, Global Chief Commercial and People Officer from headline sponsor Dye & Durham, John Robinson said:

“The UK legal industry certainly knows how to celebrate! Based in Canada, my view of the work undertaken by conveyancing professionals in the UK is often from afar, so it was brilliant to attend this event with our UK team and join in the celebrations. Well done to everyone involved and congratulations to all the winning and highly commended firms.”

UK&I Managing Director Tom Durbin St George, added:

A massive congratulations to the firms, legal suppliers, teams, and individuals taking home winners trophies and highly commended certificates today. The last 12 months has been a challenging period for those within the conveyancing industry, often operating in uncertain and changeable conditions and working under unprecedented pressure. In spite of this, many have excelled by putting the interests of the industry at the forefront of what they do.”

Managing Director of Today’s Media, publishers of Today’s Conveyancer and organisers of the awards, David Opie said:

“We can’t thank you all enough for your support with the awards. To everybody who entered, all our judges, all our sponsors and particularly to our headline sponsor Dye & Durham I’d like to extend a huge personal thank you. These awards simply wouldn’t happen without you.

“And on behalf of Today’s Media, congratulations to everybody who has been recognised.”
