The Conveyancing Information Executive (CIE) today announces the launch of a new standard for property searches, with the creation of their certification quality mark.
The CIE say they provide ‘a rigorous and transparent approach to property search governance standards, with data integrity, accuracy and transparency underpinning values in the overall provision of property search products, both today and in the future’.
This mission requires governance and clear signposts for the industry to understand which search providers are meeting these standards.
This was the driving force behind the new CIE quality mark, as Kevin Brown CIE Director confirms:
“As part of a wider branding exercise (including a brand new website with a new company logo) designed to bring greater value to our members, one of the key objectives we set ourselves was to create a simple and clear ‘stamp’ which certifies the quality of property search reports. This allows all stakeholders in a property transaction to quickly and clearly identify that the search provider and report on which they rely meets the industry leading CIE standards around data, information and insight.”
CIE members represent all sectors of the home buying process and account for a significant level of all searches produced. Their membership also includes the major data suppliers and partners powering these searches for property professionals. The CIE quality mark will provide assurance to all stakeholders across the industry that the property searches within this network adheres to the highest standards.
One Response
I’m not sure, looking at the standards, that I see anything better than what the Search Code by the PCCB requires of its members. In fact, there seems to be much lifted from the Code by CIE (even down to the level of professional indemnity insurance required).
