The conveyancer’s view, 15th August 2022
The first half of August saw Today’s Conveyancer and Property Industry Eye poll their respective readerships with a version of the following question:
“Do you think it would be beneficial for all the parties to a transaction – agents, lenders, buyers, sellers etc – to have a better understanding of the conveyancing process?”
Of nearly 500 respondents across the property industry, a striking 95% responded “yes”.
Despite the comprehensive findings, it seems that there is a lack of intent to better understand the process, and to understand that conveyancing delays are the result of a whole host of factors that are not entirely the fault of conveyancers.
However, all is not lost – key figures from around both the conveyancing and estate agency sectors have made their feelings known. A better understanding of the conveyancing process for all parties involved in a transaction could – and should – lead to conveyancers and estate agents working together, not against each other, more often.
Indeed, there is an easier way of doing this – and the data suggests it starts with knowledge sharing and understanding.
