Consumer expectation that house prices will keep rising

52% of consumers think average property prices in the UK will rise over the next 12 months.

Just 12% think they will fall according to the latest Housing Market Confidence Tracker from Halifax.

Halifax use the difference in these figures to establish a House Price Outlook (HPO), the balance of +40 this month is the highest since the tracker started.

Regionally the HPO varies dramatically, with it being as high as +69 in London, compared to +23 in the North West.

Interestingly the tracker reveals that despite the house price increases, 57% think it’s a good time to buy, whilst only 30% think it’s a good time to sell.
