Law firms across the country have taken the messaging of National Conveyancing Week to heart as the Collaboration Coffee morning came to life yesterday.
On Wednesday 22nd March law firms were invited to open their doors for a Collaboration Coffee Morning in aid of The Conveyancing Foundation as part of National Conveyancing Week. Conveyancers opened up their doors and invited local estate agents, brokers and other referrers into their offices to showcase the work they do.
Across the country firms have shared details of their activity using #NatConveyWk2023 on social media, with many welcoming local referrers into the office, and “lunch and learn” sessions and “meet the team” events taking place.
One conveyancer told this publication that they used the opportunity to present on different topics relevant to their referrers including leaseholds, lenders, indemnity insurance, SDLT and AML while others have released dedicated educational content alongside webinars and hosted networking events to embrace the initiative.
National Conveyancing Week has been launched by Bold Legal Group Founder and CEO Rob Hailstone to raise the profile of conveyancers in the home moving profession.
“Conveyancers are, on the whole, undervalued, underappreciated and mis- understood, and there are more leaving the conveyancing profession at the top end than there are joining at the bottom end, and is it any wonder?
The profile of conveyancing and conveyancers needs to improve. They are not the bad guys, in fact, quite the opposite, they help people buy their dream homes so that they can live in them and enjoy them as they should. And in these times of frauds and scams, they also make sure that the biggest purchase of their lives is carried out diligently.
The BLG members tell me daily of the increasingly difficult job they face. Where 20-30 years ago conveyancers may have had 10-15 plates spinning at any one time, today it feels as though it’s more like 25-30 plates.”
Says Hailstone, adding
“National Conveyancing Week is an opportunity for the home moving profession to come together and agree a way forward based on mutual respect and understanding of the complexities of one another’s role in the home moving process.”
Details of the week’s events can be found on the National Conveyancing Week website with many of the resources also available on-demand via the National Conveyancing Week YouTube channel.
The agenda today includes a panel discussion on the practicalities of better working relationships with Estate Agents, a lively training session by value-based pricing expert Shaun Jardine on working smarter not harder and embracing value pricing in the residential conveyancing sector, and a session on how to best advise clients on the climate change risk in property transactions; the presentation includes some helpful information for conveyancers in anticipation of the guidance to come from The Law Society, expected imminently.
