The Council for Licensed Conveyancers (CLC) has stepped in to directly manage Alexander Grace Law Limited, compelling the firm to enter a managed closure process.
The intervention, effective immediately, comes in response to concerns raised about the progress of outstanding post-completion matters undertaken by Alexander Grace. As part of the managed closure process, urgent conveyancing matters have been seamlessly transitioned to Stephensons Solicitors.
For less time-sensitive issues, clients were given the choice of selecting another reputable practice to take over their transactions. A majority of clients opted for Amity Law, a CLC regulated practice, ensuring continuity in their ongoing transactions, all of which are reported to be proceeding as anticipated.
The CLC has diligently monitored the progress of Alexander Grace’s post-completion commitments. However, due to continued concerns, the regulatory body has decided to intervene and assume direct control over the business operations of Alexander Grace Law Limited.
Post-completion work for clients will now be carried out by Stephensons Solicitors, and clients will be contacted promptly to secure their instructions for the continuation of this work. Importantly, clients retain the option to choose another lawyer of their preference for ongoing representation.
A reassuring aspect for affected clients is that the finalisation of post-completion work will incur no additional cost. Stephensons Solicitors, entrusted with this responsibility, can be reached at clcenquiries@stephensons.co.uk or by phone at 0333 344 4775.
This intervention marks a commitment by the CLC to safeguard the interests of clients and ensure the smooth resolution of outstanding legal matters in this transitional period. The regulatory body continues to oversee the process, emphasising transparency and client choice in this critical phase of the managed closure.
