Slow, manual checks across multiple platforms were making it harder for conveyancing firm The Agent Site to get clients legally ready. This was creating more admin for its staff, hurting the client experience, and hindering the firm’s ability to scale and grow.
Without API integrations, The Agent Site was performing checks across two disconnected platforms from two different providers: one for AML checks, and one for proof of funds. This meant staff had to painstakingly link checks to client accounts manually.
It also hurt the customer experience: each client had to download two different apps to perform the required checks, slowing matters down, lowering completion rates, and adding to the burden of home buying for many clients.
“Obviously it was a lot of manual work, and it wasn’t scalable,” said The Agent Site’s Fiona Drummond.
“We wanted to convert clients, increase our conversions, and grow our business – but we were spending all our time doing the admin work. It’s not a good use of time.”
The solution
The Agent Site found a solution to its challenges in Checkboard. According to Fiona, it wasn’t just the ability to perform AML and proof of funds checks, but to integrate them with The Agent Site’s existing platforms that made Checkboard the clear choice.
“The first thing that really paved the way for Checkboard was that we could do proof of funds and AML checks from one place. But APIs were the game changer,” explained Fiona.
“Clients only need to download one app, do one check, and the results just come straight back into the portal, so the solicitor gets the results they need to get the legal work started,” said Fiona.
“So, it got the legal work off to a flying start instead of a lumbering pace.”
The results
This has allowed The Agent Site to perform all its checks on a single integrated platform, and quickly deliver accurate reports to solicitors, significantly boosting speed and efficiency.
With open banking and straightforward API integrations, all that data is quickly and seamlessly linked to client accounts and passed on to solicitors. The process is streamlined and scalable, and The Agent Site’s sales team can spend less time on admin.
“It’s increased our ability to scale the business, to improve our services, and to make us more efficient – which then increases revenue,” said Fiona.
That’s reflected in the firm’s growth. In 2025, it saw a 12% improvement to its conversion rate, and a 56% increase in revenue.
