Bracknell Forest council local land charges back online

Bracknell Forest Council has issued an update to confirm its ability to process local authority searches is now back online and it is working through the backlog.

A statement published by the council said: “We are continuing to process personal searches and have issued 505 of these searches over the past few weeks. We are working through the rest of the backlog.

“We have also started to issue local authority searches this week and have issued 45 to date. These are more in-depth searches and so take more time to work through.

“We would like to thank everyone for their continued patience and apologise for the inconvenience caused.”

The council has been unable to process local authority and personal searches since January 2026 after the transfer to a new IT system let to issues with the data that feeds to land charge search. The council explained it “was not in a format that can be easily synced with the new system,” resulting in problems mapping the data between systems.

The issues resulted in a lengthy backlog including over 7000 searches according to the council.
