Average house prices continue to increase

House prices increased 0.6% from May to June taking average prices in England and Wales to £162,621.

According to the latest market trend data from the Land Registry there was an annual increase of 0.8% in the national figures.

As usual the region which experienced the greatest house price rise was London which saw a 6.9% annual increase.

Completed house sales also increased 12% to 48,367 compared with 43,252 in April 2012.

The number of properties sold in England and Wales for over £1 million in April 2013 also increased by 45% to 703 from 484 in April 2012.
