The British Geological Survey (BGS) has joined data quality and standards collective the Conveyancing Information Executive as its latest industry partner
BGS, the oldest national geological survey in the world having been founded in 1835, joins CIE to provide objective and authoritative geoscientific data, and information and knowledge to help society use its natural resources responsibly, manage environmental change and be resilient to environmental hazards.
BGS is a world-leading geological survey and global geoscience organisation, focusing its efforts on science and research which seeks to understand earth and environmental processes, making recommendations in the public interest. On joining CIE Jenny Forster, Head of Business Development from BGS said
“We are pleased to be joining CIE as an Industry Partner. BGS holds a vast amount of important national datasets and are a trusted provider of geological data across various industries including conveyancing. We will look to work with CIE and its members in areas we identify, that can further support data quality and improved services that aligns closely with our vision.”
CIE was launched in 2020 to ‘maintain and improve the quality of information conveyancing professionals and stakeholders in the home buying and selling process receive.’ it has since gathered extensive support from around the sector and in 2024 launched a new certification quality mark for property searches.
