National Conveyancing Week, launched to raise the profile of the conveyancing community across the home moving industry, has concluded with a closing message from founder Rob Hailstone, and David Opie calling on the conveyancing profession to adopt the messages, marketing activity and momentum beyond National Conveyancing Week and throughout 2023.
The video, which can be viewed below, was released during the Friday afternoon “Wine’d Down” to celebrate the end of National Conveyancing Week 2023. Across the week around 2000 professionals from across the home moving industry have got involved. Reflecting on the week Rob Hailstone said:
“I think it’s gone better than we could have expected. It’s been hard work behind the scenes but it’s been a fantastic week.
The biggest highlight for me was the Collaboration Morning. We were amazed by the response as conveyancers opened up their offices, invited people in, engaged with local agents, made new contacts and rekindled old contacts; and to have been able to showcase through the social channels has been brilliant.”
We will have another one next year, that’s for sure.”
David Opie added:
“The heartening thing for me is the way in which the profession has really taken the week to heart. If what we’ve done here is help firms to recognise the value of their conveyancing team and create a whole load of content and resource around that then that’s a fabulous achievement and much needed. I hope it’s restored some pride in the role and the work.”
Throughout National Conveyancing Week a number of on and offline events have been hosted showcasing the conveyancing profession, all of which are now available to view of the National Conveyancing Week YouTube channel. The channel also features a number of videos from supporters on topics including up front information, compliance, technology and development, and artificial intelligence.
The week opened on Monday 20th March with a welcome message from Hailstone and Opie followed by a call to arms from Conveyancing Foundation’s Lloyd Davies in their efforts to raise money for the DEC Syria-Turkey Earthquake Appeal. A number of panel discussions have also taken place including

- Collaboration with agents, clients, mortgage advisors and others
The Today’s Conveyancer Podcast hosted a National Conveyancing Week special discussing the future of property due diligence with contributions from across the representative industry bodies, including the Council of Property Search Organisations, Conveyancing Information Executive, Society of Licensed Conveyancers and Bold Legal Group.
On Thursday 23rd March a number of training sessions took place

- Value based pricing from Shaun Jardine at Big Yellow Penguin
- Shrinking the iceberg; how conveyancers can advise clients on the risks associated with climate change from David Kempster at Groundsure
And on Tuesday 21st March, ahead of the British Conveyancing Awards 2023, the Home Buying and Selling Group hosted an Up Front Information Roadshow at 8 Northumberland Avenue, London to discuss which prescribed documents would need to be reviewed to identify the anticipated Material Information, which must be provided on advertising/marketing a property for sale, and debated how local property networks can work together to do this efficiently. The National Conveyancing Week website also features a “Share Your Story” page with stories from practitioners on how and why they got into the conveyancing profession in the first place.
