New proptech start up MoveGenius begins first pilot

MoveGenius, a new property platform built on blockchain, is to launch with the aim of expediting the home buying and selling process.

The platform’s founder is ex-lawyer Hannah Nicholson. Hannah bought her first property back in 2017 and was frustrated with the lack of upfront information available to house buyers and sellers during the legal process. Fast forward to 2022 and Hannah decided a game-changing approach was required to positively impact the experience for millions of people involved in the home buying experience.

MoveGenius aims to improve the transparency of the conveyancing process through the provision of simpler and more reliable information to home movers. This aligns with the new upcoming legislation detailed in the recent government’s Levelling Up white paper, ensuring more upfront information is available to prospective home buyers. Research shows 80% of buyers are seeking this.

The platform plans a fast-track onboarding process which will provide better information at the point of sale, including upfront legal packs. This will look to provide a “single source of truth” by leveraging the benefits of blockchain technology, reducing the administrative workload on property professionals in the process, as well as instances of inaccuracy and fraud.

Why blockchain?

  • A single source of truth to record ownership records and title data
  • Transparency between home buyer, seller, estate agent and solicitor
  • An immutable homeowner’s passport

To help accelerate MoveGenius, Hannah recently applied and was accepted into the Satoshi Block Dojo incubator, a 12-week intensive blockchain-focussed programme with the goal of helping start-ups to refine their product offering and build their first MVPs on the BSV blockchain.

Hannah joins eight other start-ups in “Cohort Two”, the Dojo’s second ever Cohort. Each of the teams of start-ups is given an initial £10k investment, access to a further £100k of services, such as legal contracts and blockchain development time, introduced to Mentors, and put through their paces with different topic focusses each week.

All this will culminate at the end of the 12 weeks with Hannah, and the other teams, pitching to investors for anything from £150k worth of investment.

Satoshi Block Dojo was founded by serial entrepreneur Craig Massey, Dojo being his 8th start-up. Craig’s also founded YourKeys, which sold to Zoopla for an undisclosed multi-million pound figure. He said:

“We are excited to have Hannah join the programme with MoveGenius, this is an excellent application of blockchain technology and we think investors will be keen to get a piece of the action.”

Recently appointed Global CEO James Marchant added:

“With Hannah’s legal background and experience, we know MoveGenius is in good hands. It’s a great product with huge potential and we look forward to seeing the first end-to-end transactions on the platform.”

MoveGenius has just begun its first pilot, partnering with ID verification providers, surveyors, law firms and estate agents.
