From the end of June the Land registry will no longer require original documents to be sent to them in order to change the register of a registered property.
The body will instead accept certified copies of deeds or documents sent with application forms from June 30.
Applicants can still send originals of documents in the post, but the Land Registry advises that after a scanned copy is made the originals will be destroyed.
The update to their policy applies only to land and property that is already registered, not to First Registrations, which will still require original copies sent with application forms.
