The Legal Services Board is seeking experienced senior leaders to help drive “a major reset” of legal services regulation.
The legal services oversight body is recruiting for three senior positions in what chief executive Richard Orpin (pictured) says is a “pivotal moment” for the LSB.
“These roles will strengthen our organisation’s ability to embed a more proactive, intelligence-led and outcomes-focused approach to regulatory oversight”, he explained.
“They will help us to make sure that the LSB can identify emerging risks early, drive improvements in regulatory performance, foster innovation and promote growth.”
The open vacancies are for a director of regulatory oversight, a head of performance and oversight, and a head of policy, development and delivery.
The director of regulatory oversight is a new post “of critical importance” to the LSB. The successful candidate will lead a new directorate bringing together different teams into a single functional area, which will have “deep insight” into the regulators overseen by the LSB.
The head of performance and oversight is also a new role, with the holder playing “an important leadership position” within the new directorate. The successful candidate will support the delivery of the LSB’s statutory oversight functions and ensure regulator performance is effectively monitored.
The head of policy, development and delivery will lead the LSB’s policy programme, which will be set out in the three-year strategy currently in development.
The successful candidate will oversee the development and implementation of regulatory policy, working closely with frontline regulators and key stakeholders.
“The recruitment comes as we sharpen our focus on risk-based, targeted, and proportionate oversight, supported by a streamlined policy programme”, the LSB said.
