I read a quote this week that really resonated with me: The cheapest conveyancer is often the most expensive decision.
So apologies, as I often talk about fees and costs and how we all need to charge more and be better respected… So I’ll just leave that quote with you and write about something else.
How about a joke instead?
Why did the conveyancing transaction take so long?
Because the house was in a chain and one of the links kept saying…
“Just one more quick enquiry before exchange.”
Now you may not have laughed but you are probably nodding your head in agreement.
So here’s another – a good old fashioned style joke we can all relate to.
A buyer calls their solicitor and says, “Hi, how’s the conveyancing going on the house?”
The solicitor replies: “Well… The searches are back, the enquiries are raised, the mortgage offer is in, the chain is ready, and everyone’s agreed a completion date.”
“Great!” says the buyer. “So we’re exchanging today?”
The solicitor pauses and says…
“Don’t be ridiculous! The seller’s cousin’s dog-sitter’s neighbour’s solicitor has just raised a new enquiry about a fence that moved in 1997!”
Put your fees up – make conveyancing a respected profession. In National Conveyancing Month, be proud to be a conveyancer.
