A principal of a conveyancing firm based in Wales is raising money for a children’s charity by attempting to walk and run 500 kilometres across the Arctic circle in just five days.
Sam Hawking, principal of Sam Hawking Property Lawyers, is taking part in the Lapland Arctic Ultra Challenge in the Swedish Arctic and hoping to cover the 500km in just five days, while dragging a sled with everything he needs to survive.
He hopes to raise £20,000 for the Swansea-based Kids Cancer Charity which supports children affected by cancer and their families through specialist play therapy services and holiday care breaks, at caravans on the UK coast, Disney Land Paris and in Florida.
Hawking explained:
“Their work makes a huge difference to children who are really suffering and their families at their time of great need. Thinking of the suffering these kids endure, the courage they display, and the help we are giving them, will help to sustain me at my low points through this race. Thank you for your support, and for helping these amazing and courageous children.”
A justgiving page has raised just over £2000 at the time of writing, with £1000 coming from The Conveyancing Foundation, of which Hawking is a trustee. A proportion of the charity donations raised at the upcoming British Conveyancing Awards has also been committed to the endeavour, which begins on 1st March 2026.
