Lending falls in November

The latest figures from the Bank of England show that lending secured on dwellings fell by £0.2 billion in November to £11.6 billion.

This was compared to the previous six-month average increase of £0.3 billion with lending at £11.5 billion.

Repayments in November were up to £11.3 billion, compared to the previous six-month average of £11.2 billion.

The number of loan approvals for house purchase increased in November to 54,036 compared to the previous six-month average of 49,206.

28,632 remortgages were approved, a slight decrease from November but well above the previous six-month average of 27,240.

Total lending in all areas to individuals (excluding student loans) fell by £0.1 billion in November.
