Diary of a High Street Conveyancer – The conveyancing playlist

I was thinking about whether we should have a playlist just for conveyancing. The idea was sparked by a recollection of calling one of the larger managing agents some years ago and the hold music was ‘We don’t talk anymore’ by Cliff Richard.

So let me start the morning with some musical fun – and they’re all on the Secret Conveyancing YouTube playlist!

  • For when the deal is agreed: Hard Times Comin’ (Johnny Cash)
  • For when the client decides that other firms are cheaper and tries to haggle you on the price: Go Your Own Way (Fleetwood Mac)
  • When the chain is getting tricky and you feel you can’t keep everyone happy, but you’re still there, updating everyone and their cat – and still smiling: Livin’ on a Prayer (Bon Jovi)
  • When you have to tell the client it’s like this for everyone and they just have to trust you: Lean on Me (Bill Withers)
  • When you come out of the other side of that tricky chain, not quite ready to exchange contracts, but the deal’s  together: I’m Still Standing (Elton John)
  • When the client bemoans what the conveyancing process is like and you have to tell them (again) it’s like this for everyone: Everybody Hurts (REM)
  • When you have the same conversation for the fifth time in a day about the process and the attitude of other parties and estate agents: Let it Be (The Beatles)
  • For when the chain collapses: Boulevard of Broken Dreams (Green Day)
  • For when the chain resurrects itself and the tortuous process starts all over again: Don’t Stop Believing (Journey)
  • For the day of completion: Signed Sealed Delivered (Stevie Wonder)

And for all conveyancers this Monday, as we enter into a budget week when who knows what will be thrown at us, remember that we have been here many times in the last few years and we have made it through.

So put on those roller skates and dance to…

  • I Will Survive (Gloria Gaynor)

What would you add? Let us know in the comments and we’ll add them to playlist.

  1. I quite regularly have going through my head ‘Under Pressure’ David Bowie/Queen
and ‘Titanium’ by Sia sung loudly in the car on the way home is quite therapeutic!

  2. i would like to add shut up by black eyed peas for when you get enquiries that under protocol you dont have to answer.
