Commonhold and AI on the agenda for annual Society of Licensed Conveyancers Conference programme

The annual Society of Licensed Conveyancers (SLC) conference reconvenes on 12th November to tackle the daily issues facing conveyancers including commonhold, mental health, and artificial intelligence.

Hosted again in Derby, the day welcomes speakers from across the sector, and beyond, to discuss topics of importance to residential conveyancers. Matt Prior from the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government (MHCLG) will provide an update on the current commonhold agenda from the government’s perspective – one of the most topical issues in property law reform.

A panel session to follow will see Paul Broadhead of the  Building Societies Association, Ed Donne of Howden, John Marr from UK Finance, Ian Quayle of IQ Legal Training and Prior himself discuss the opportunities and challenges commonhold presents.

Elsewhere Mental Health and Wellbeing will be discussed by Hannah Knowles from The Art of Brilliance, ensuring that personal wellbeing remains part of the professional conversation and panel discussions on AI in Conveyancing and Digital Signatures will cover practical and regulatory considerations with representatives from the Council for Licensed Conveyancers (CLC), HM Land Registry, Building Societies Association and UK Finance

“This year’s programme addresses the pressing issues and innovations reshaping our profession. Commonhold remains a critical area of reform, and we’re proud to bring together leading experts who can give attendees real-world insights into its future. We’ve built a line-up that is informative, engaging, and interactive – a true CPD opportunity for all conveyancers.”

said Simon Law, Chairperson of the Society of Licensed Conveyancers.

Kate Faulkner OBE returns as host for the day which also sees the opportunity for delegates to attend breakout sessions covering non-standard sales, planning and building control and inspections and ID verification.

“We’re thrilled to offer such a diverse programme. Whether you’re interested in legal reform, emerging technologies, or compliance, there’s something for every conveyancer. And, as always, we aim to foster not just learning but community within the profession.”

concluded Law.

The conference is free of charge for all members. Conveyancing practitioners who are not members can still purchase a ticket to attend. Delegates are invited to stay for the informal post-conference dinner and drinks reception, complete with entertainment, hosted at Pride Park Stadium.
