tmGroup appoints former CoStar MD as new CEO

tmGroup has announced the appointment of a new chief executive officer effective Monday 18th August. Matthew Green joins the conveyancing search and technology provider from global commercial real estate information, analytics and online marketplace CoStar Group, owner of property search portal OnTheMarket.

With 21 years’ service, Green most recently served as European managing director for the group, encompassing operations across the UK, France, Germany and Spain and reporting directly to the global CEO.

Green is a qualified chartered accountant, having started his career at Arthur Andersen.  He joins tmGroup to help shape the company’s next chapter. ‘I’m thrilled to be joining tmGroup at such an exciting point in its journey’, Green said.

“Having spent time getting to know the property technology industry from many angles, I can already see the huge potential here and I’m looking forward to working closely with the talented team to unlock it. This next chapter is all about building on tmGroup’s strong foundations, embracing innovation, and delivering even greater value to our clients.”

As part of the leadership transition, outgoing CEO Thomas Maerz will move into a new role on the tmGroup Advisory Board, where he will continue to support the business, maintain key relationships, and focus on identifying the company’s next acquisition opportunities.

Reflecting on his tenure, Thomas Maerz said:

“The past two years have been a fantastic journey, and that’s entirely thanks to the tmGroup team. Their commitment, collaboration, and drive have brought the company to where it is today. I’m excited about what’s ahead – for Matthew, for the team, and for tmGroup.”

Green lives in East Sussex with his wife and three children. While not originally from Swindon, he grew up in Gloucester, attended school in Bristol, and graduated from Reading University, making this part of the UK familiar territory.

tmGroup was acquired by European investment firm AURELIUS in July 2023 after Dye & Durham were instructed to divest the search company by the Competitions and Markets Authority.  The company, which also owns Conveyancing Data Services and Property Searches Scotland, has since embarked on its own acquisition strategy with Lawtech Software Group and Veya.
