Whilst joint representation remains the norm, all conveyancing businesses remain highly vulnerable to lenders choosing not to instruct them. The removal from a panel for the smallest error or even just because you don’t do enough business is killing conveyancers across the country. Some conveyancers are even seeking to litigate against lenders in respect of their approach to panel management. So the few hundred Licensed Conveyancing firms will be excited by the news that the Society for Licensed Conveyancers has developed a new lease of life and is trying to throw a lifeline to them.
The Society of Licensed Conveyancers (SLC) which is the representative body for licensed conveyancers is set to launch an innovative solution, which will allow licensed conveyancers to remain on lenders panels. At the first of what is expected to become an annual industry event, the SLC will be launching its new Lenders Panel Solution to attendees at its Embracing the Future of Conveyancing conference, taking place later this month on the 22nd November in Derby The solution, which is specifically designed for Licensed Conveyancers looks to address the issues associated with panel creation and will allow Licensed Conveyancers to either stay on or in fact join Lenders Panels. Interestingly the Society of Licensed Conveyancers makes no reference in their press release to the Conveyancing Quality Scheme (CQS) which the scheme will inevitably be compared to.
The CQS also claims to be able to rebuild trust with lenders and enable solicitor conveyancers to stay on lender panels.
The SLC’s Embracing the Future of Conveyancing conference will take place on the 22nd November in Derby. In addition to the launch of the SLC’s new solution, attendees will have an opportunity to share knowledge and best practice, while accessing key guidance from the likes of the CML, the BSA and the Council of Licensed Conveyancers. Attendees will also receive six points towards their Continued Professional Development (CPD).
