Law Society Need Your Input On MOU

The Law Society is running a survey and is calling on all CQS members for their input to help change the conveyancing process.

The Law Society sent a message to members, which read:

“Some industry groups representing significant numbers of conveyancers – solicitors and others – are advocating the use of a new Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to try and improve conveyancing processes during the pandemic and afterwards.

“The draft MOU is a voluntary set of guidelines which, if widely adopted by industry groups, could have significant implications for firms undertaking conveyancing work, as well as buyers and sellers.

It would be extremely helpful if as many firms as possible could answer the short survey.”

Although respondents aren’t required to read the draft Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) in full is not required it is advised to that you read the sections of the MOU on the Buyer’s and Seller’s Property Lawyers obligations.

The survey will take no longer than five minutes.

Findings will be used to inform the Law Society’s conversations with government and industry bodies around how potential changes will affect you as CQS members and others involved in the conveyancing process.

Take part in the survey and share your views here.
