Cabinet reshuffle: ‘New’ housing minister and all change for Lord Chancellor

Housing has been added to the remit of the existing secretary of state for the Department of Communities and Local Goverment.

In today’s (8/1/18) Cabinet reshuffle, Sajid Javid was reappointed by Prime Minister Theresa May, with his job role now including ‘Housing’.

This afternoon, Downing Street also confirmed that the Lord Chancellor, David Lidington was to be appointed as chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster and Cabinet Office minister.

This marks the fifth change for the role of Lord Chancellor since 2012. Whilst it has not yet been announced who will be appointed to the position, several reports suggest that the current minister of justice, Dominic Raab could be a likely successor.
