Conveyancing Direct become first firm to offer Conveyancing Technician legal apprenticeship

Sussex based firm Conveyancing Direct have become the first to offer a vocational route into the new CLC regulated job title of Conveyancing Technician.

The role offers routes on to becoming a Licensed Conveyancer and sits above the role of a conveyancing paralegal in expertise level.

The eight apprenticeship positions are being offered in conjunction with legal apprenticeship specialists Damar Training.

The firm is inviting applications from bright young people interested in the legal sector and who may be leaving school or college shortly but would prefer to work and study at the same time, gaining valuable experience in the job role, rather than bear the cost of university. Alongside their day to day work, the apprentice will receive professional training and need to study for their exams and assessment

Michelle Timms, Learning and Development Manager at Conveyancing Direct said: “It is a very exciting opportunity and one that has never been available before. The apprenticeship role offers the chance to develop skills, gain qualifications and start a legal career, all whilst earning a salary.”

Sheila Kumar, Chief Executive of the Council for Licensed Conveyancers said: “It is very encouraging to see firms beginning to appoint apprentices who, when successful, will be recognised as Conveyancing Technicians and may then go on to become Licensed Conveyancers. The apprenticeships that employers and the Council for Licensed Conveyancers have developed together will be great routes into rewarding legal careers at a time of high demand for experienced and qualified property lawyers.”
