British Conveyancing Awards 2027 will celebrate ‘the people behind the process’

The British Conveyancing Awards 2027 are open for entries from today (14th September), with this year’s theme celebrating ‘the people behind the process’ – recognising the real people behind every property transaction as the sector increasingly moves towards digitalisation.

Following the success of the 2026 awards at Manchester Cathedral, the awards will move to a larger and more central venue for 2027: The Vox in Birmingham, on 18th March.

Alongside popular categories from previous years, new awards have been introduced to reflect the pace of technological development and changing business models in professional legal services.

New categories for 2027 include Consultant Solicitor of the Year, in recognition of the growing role of self-employed consultants, and People & Culture Champions, which recognises firms who introduce successful recruitment and retention policies and support staff in new and innovative ways.

In response to the government’s home buying and selling reform programmes, the Excellence in Client Onboarding category will recognise the suppliers working with conveyancers to introduce more information at the outset of the transaction and move toward instruction at the point of a property being listed.

Today’s Media, publisher of Today’s Conveyancer and the company behind the awards, welcomes the return of property due diligence and data provider Groundsure as headline sponsor.

Groundsure CEO Malcolm Smith said: “We are incredibly proud and excited to once again be the headline sponsor of the British Conveyancing Awards.

“Groundsure has always championed the legal conveyancing sector, and this event is a fantastic opportunity to celebrate the hard work, dedication and successes of everyone who practises in the industry. We’re also really looking forward to seeing how the ceremony evolves at its new home, The Vox in Birmingham, and can’t wait to celebrate with everyone on the day.”

Today’s Media managing director David Opie said: “The British Conveyancing Awards are focused on identifying the very best the conveyancing sector has to offer. There are stringent criteria for each category, with a robust judging process that draws on the expertise of people from across the conveyancing and wider property profession.

“The aim of the awards is the same as that of Today’s Conveyancer and its sister publications, Today’s Family Lawyer and Today’s Wills and Probate: to offer a platform to the professionals who work within these essential sectors and celebrate the achievements that can often go unrecognised.”

The British Conveyancing Awards were launched in the wake of the super-charged increase in home moving demand after COVID-19, when the sector pulled together to successfully complete 1.6 million transactions during a time of personal and professional upheaval. In the years since, the awards have become a popular and highly anticipated event in the legal calendar.

The category criteria have been reviewed and refreshed for 2027, reflecting the continued efforts of organisers to ensure they reflect the challenges and achievements of the profession.

Entries are now open with an early bird entry rate of £129 +VAT available until 18th October. Firms can enter up to three categories at the early bird rate and submissions do not have to be completed immediately. The standard entry rate of £169+VAT will be applied from 19th October until entries close on 30th November.

A single category entry rate of £89 +VAT is also available from today and until entries close.
