Senior appointments and a key expansion: firm news round-up

It’s been a busy spring for property lawyers, with a series of senior appointments across England and an expansion for a north-west firm.

At regional law firm Steele Raymond, property dispute specialist Chris Marsden has been appointed as a new partner. Marsden has 17 years of experience in resolving complex property disputes, and will play a pivotal role in developing Steele Raymond’s property offering. With Matt Crampton joining the wills, trusts and probate team and Chris Reeves in the new construction division, the appointments in the Legal 500 Top Tier firm take partner numbers to 26.

Houzecheck has appointed a new head of finance, with Kasia Suchacka set to play a pivotal role in supporting the surveying portal’s growth trajectory. Suchacka will be responsible for developing and implementing financial strategies to underpin the proptech company’s expansion. She will also act as a strategic adviser to the chief executive and the HouzeCheck board.

The appointment of Catherine Smith as conveyancing executive has expanded the award-winning new-build team at Switalskis to nine. Smith brings 12 years of industry experience to the position, gained through roles both in-house at regional housebuilders and in law firms. This dual perspective allows her to support Switalskis clients through the unique process of buying a brand new home.

The conveyancing team at Switalskis have enjoyed a strong start to 2025, having been named New Build Conveyancing Team of the Year and Residential Property Team – Large Team of the Year at the British Conveyancing Awards. The firm has also been recognised as one of The Sunday Times Best Places to Work.

North-west firm Bell Lamb & Joynson Solicitors has opened its fifth new office, in the heart of Ashton-in-Makerfied. The expansion marks the next step in the firm’s continued growth across the region and a commitment to making legal services more accessible to local communities.

Established in 1821, Bell Lamb & Joynson is one of the North West’s longest-standing law firms, with existing offices in Liverpool, Runcorn, Maghull and Warrington.
